The Second Golden Age

The Second Golden Age is a musical collaboration between Australian baritone Daniel Carison and Welsh pianist Rhodri Britton.

The title refers to the second great heyday of English Art Song between 1870 and 1940, where composers such as Parry, Elgar, Somervell, Vaughan Williams, Sullivan, Bridge, Quilter, Ireland, Howells, Butterworth, Delius and Finzi championed the revival of English song.

The project pays homage to the great English composers whose music has been so unjustly forgotten, and much of which remains to be discovered. In the form of a recital series, The Second Golden Age aims to be toured throughout Germany and abroad.

The Second Golden Age is generously supported by the Deutscher Musikrat.
